How to start your own blog.

Blogs and/or Articles appear all over the internet from peoples own personal website to sub sites at blogspot.com.  Most of these blogs don’t achieve much. If you think you can get rich by writing some random content and place affiliate with a few key words in your blog, then you are far from the truth (and reality!).  Blogging is much more than that and it requires thought and effort, and you must know about the topic you are writing about.

You may be writing a blog but you may not be getting visitors to your site to read what you have carefully written. Blogs do not automatically show up in search engines, you need to let the search engines know that you have written your blog or article, and you need to let your targets markets authority sites know and let as many people as you possible can know about your blog to start getting visitors.

Get the right domain name.

Your domain name is your internet address like www.bigplans.co.nz it’s how people can find you on the internet. Domains are very cheap, unless of course you are looking for a popular domain name which someone already owns and is selling (much like personalised number plates for vehicles).

Choosing the right domain name is very important because search engines will look at your internet address and that helps the search engines understand what your website is about. If you do not have your own domain name yet then this is an opportune time to get one with your keywords in it and this will definitely help with your search engine rankings.

You should also register a domain name that people can easily remember.  You want to be able to tell people your domain name and they should be able to remember it. I would recommend no more than 2 or 3 words.  You could have a domain name this-is-my-blog.co.nz (notice the hyphens not a good idea) or you could have thisismyblog.co.nz which is much easier to remember.

Hosting your blog

On the internet there is a huge amount of theme providers for WordPress.  Do a Google search and take a look at Woo Themes or Rocket Themes or if you have a few more dollars we can make one for you and install it for you.

It is easy to set up your blog and get online, from here you need commitment to keep adding quality content targeted at your target market and keeping it update and maintained.
Providing new articles twice a week is much harder than you may think.  Also keep in mind that Google is looking for high quality new content.
